Lazar Yovtchev – founder of Ugandan Travel Agency

The founder of the company, Lazar Yovtchev, lived in Africa for many years, and the continent holds a special place in his heart. His love for Africa, extensive personal experience, and deep knowledge of Uganda form the foundation of Ugandan Travel Agency's philosophy. As a tour leader, Lazar personally accompanies and guides groups throughout their safari adventures in Uganda, sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion for the country. Our goal is to present Uganda as it truly is – authentic, welcoming, diverse, and rich in both natural wonders and cultural heritage.

If you are wondering which bird is featured in our logo – it is the Grey Crowned Crane, the national symbol of Uganda. It symbolizes grace, peace, and dignity. The Grey Crowned Crane appears on both the country's coat of arms and national flag, making it one of Uganda's most recognizable symbols. For us, it represents the harmony between people, nature, and local communities.

Uganda is one of the most diverse travel destinations in Africa. The country combines savannas, tropical forests, mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and rich cultural heritage. Here you can observe wildlife on safari, meet local communities, visit historical and religious sites, and immerse yourself in the daily life of one of the most welcoming nations on the continent.

Queen Elizabeth National Park
The king of the jungle resting, magnificent!

Among the most impressive natural attractions are Murchison Falls, where the waters of the Nile River pass through a narrow rock gorge, creating one of Africa's most powerful natural spectacles. Sipi Falls offers scenic hiking routes and panoramic views of Mount Elgon's slopes. Lake Bunyonyi impresses with its islands and peaceful atmosphere, while Mabamba Swamps are among the best places in Africa to observe the rare Shoebill Stork.

Mountain enthusiasts can head to Rwenzori Mountains National Park, known as the Mountains of the Moon. Here lies Margherita Peak (5109 m) – the third highest peak in Africa after Kilimanjaro (5895 m) and Mount Kenya (5199 m). Trekking in Rwenzori passes through bamboo forests, giant alpine vegetation, glaciers, and high-altitude lakes, creating some of the most unique landscapes on the continent.

Silverback mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park
Silverback mountain gorillas in their natural habitat - Bwindi National Park

Wildlife is among Uganda's greatest treasures. In Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas live. Meeting a gorilla family in their natural habitat is one of the most thrilling experiences Africa has to offer.

In Queen Elizabeth National Park, you can observe lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, leopards, and over 600 bird species. The park is also famous for its tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha Sector. Lake Mburo National Park offers encounters with zebras, giraffes, impalas, elands, and many other savanna animals.

Uganda's cultural heritage is equally impressive. During our trips, we visit Kasubi Tombs – a UNESCO-protected site and spiritual center of the Buganda Kingdom. We will visit Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine Basilica, Uganda National Mosque, and Baha'i House of Worship – the only Baha'i temple in Africa. A special place in our programs is held by the cultural show of Ndere Troupe, which presents traditional dances, music, and customs of Uganda's various peoples.

We believe that a trip should be more than just visiting tourist sites. That's why we work closely with local guides, hotels, communities, and conservation organizations. We strive for every journey to benefit both our guests and the people and places we visit.

With Ugandan Travel Agency, you won't just see Uganda. You will feel the rhythm of Africa, encounter wildlife up close, touch ancient traditions, and discover a country that remains a hidden treasure for much of the world.

If you're looking for a combination of safari, mountain trekking, gorillas, culture, history, and stunning nature, Uganda is your next destination. And we are here to turn this journey into an experience you will remember for a lifetime.
