Imagine an adventure in which the day can start with a safari or end with an afternoon outing amid the wildlife of Africa. In Lake Mburo you will meet zebras and giraffes, in Queen Elizabeth National Park – elephants, lions and leopards, and in Murchison Falls National Park you will see Rothschild's giraffes, leopards, lions, as well as hippos, crocodiles and elephants. In Ishasha you will search for the famous tree-climbing lions, and in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary you will track the white rhinos on foot with rangers.

Uganda is a land of rivers and lakes – a boat safari in the Mabamba Swamp will introduce you to the rare shoebill (Balaeniceps rex), along the Kazinga Channel you will observe thousands of hippos, crocodiles and elephants, and along the River Nile you will sail among hippos, crocodiles and elephants until you reach the base of the most powerful waterfall in Africa. In Jinja you will visit the source of the Nile and feel its beginning from Lake Victoria.

The program also includes the CTC Conservation Center, where you will learn about efforts to protect lions and cheetahs and get to touch the young lion cubs before they are returned to the wild. You will climb to the top of Murchison Falls, enjoy the three cascades of Sipi Falls and feel the adrenaline of Itanda Falls.

You will stand with one foot in the Northern and the other in the Southern Hemisphere at the Hima equator point. You will immerse yourself in the richness of the culture – with the Ndere Troupe in Kampala, you will attend traditional rituals and dances, visit the Alur tribe in Pakwach and see UNESCO sites such as the Kasubi Tombs and the Namugongo basilica.

Lake Mburo National Park

An afternoon safari amid picturesque savannas: observing zebras, giraffes, impalas and diverse wildlife. A relaxed pace for photos and explanations from the guide.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

An early morning safari across the savanna - observing buffaloes, antelopes, elephants and hippos by the Kazinga Channel, as well as encounters with lions, leopards and hyenas. An excellent time for photos in the first rays of the sun.

Boat and cruise safaris, walks

Mabamba Swamp

A boat safari among narrow channels and papyrus swamps in search of the rare shoebill (Balaeniceps rex). Mabamba is recognized as one of the best places in the world to observe this unique species. During the cruise you can also see African fish eagles, herons, pelicans and many other water birds.

A boat safari along the Kazinga Channel - observing thousands of hippos, crocodiles and herds of elephants by the shore, as well as dozens of bird species. A unique opportunity to feel the wildlife up close.

Boat safari on the River Nile – Murchison Falls National Park

Sailing to the base of the waterfall - hippos and Nile crocodiles by the shore, elephants and buffaloes at the watering hole, rich bird diversity (African fish eagle, bee-eaters, herons, cormorants). A relaxed pace and excellent conditions for photos.

By boat to the source of the River Nile

A boat ride to the source of the Nile in the town of Jinja, where the longest river in the world begins its journey, springing from Lake Victoria itself. During the cruise you can see flocks of herons, cormorants, fish eagles and other water birds. This is a relaxed boat trip that lets you enjoy the nature and history of the place.

Wildlife reserve

CTC Conservation Center

The CTC Conservation Center is a unique eco-center dedicated to protecting wildlife and educating local communities. Here we have the chance to learn more about efforts to protect lions, cheetahs and other animals. The visit includes a guided tour, a talk about conservation projects, as well as the chance for safe and controlled contact with young lion cubs, which upon reaching three years of age are released into the wild. This is a place where nature conservation meets education and leaves a lasting impression on every visitor.

Natural landmarks

Murchison Falls – climb to the top

An incredible experience along a steep trail leading to the top of the falls. From there a view opens onto the place where the River Nile cuts into a narrow gorge and crashes down with tremendous power. An excellent opportunity for photos and to feel the power of nature.

Sipi Falls

Three dramatic waterfalls descending the slopes of Mount Elgon. A paradise for hiking with routes through picturesque trails, coffee plantations and small villages. The chance for treks to each cascade, panoramic views and unforgettable moments amid nature and local life.

Itanda Falls

One of the best places for rafting and extreme adventures on the River Nile. The rapids offer different levels of difficulty – from thrilling descents for advanced adventurers to easier routes. A paradise for adrenaline lovers, with the option of kayaking, bodyboarding and observing the picturesque water cascades. The biggest attraction here will remain a secret.

Stop at the Equator

Equator point – Hima

The second equator point is by the town of Hima, at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains. Here too our route makes a special stop, so we can enjoy the experience of standing with one foot in the Northern and the other in the Southern Hemisphere. An ideal place for unique photos and a memory that stays for a lifetime.

Way of life, culture and traditions

Ndere Troupe

A cultural center in Kampala, home to the famous Ndere Troupe – a symbol of Uganda's musical and dance heritage. With their performances drawn from over 60 ethnic groups, they present the richness of traditional dances, songs and stories. The evening shows combine folklore, the rhythm of drums and colorful costumes, creating an unforgettable immersion in the culture of the country.

Meeting the Jonam tribe in Pakwach

A visit to the Jonam tribe of the Amor clan in the Pakwach area. We spend about 2 hours with them, witnessing their way of life – how they prepare their food, how they keep their traditions and dances. They tell us about their way of life and daily routine, and we get in touch with the authentic culture and reality of poor people in Africa.

Cultural and historical tours

Kasubi Tombs

A mausoleum and sacred site of Buganda culture, included on the UNESCO list. Four kings (kabakas) of Buganda are buried here: Muteesa I, Basamula Mwanga II, Daudi Chwa II and Sir Edward Muteesa II. The tomb is a unique example of traditional architecture using wood, reed and clay. The Kasubi Tombs are a spiritual center and a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the Buganda people.

Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine Basilica, Namugongo

One of the most sacred places in Uganda, included on the UNESCO list as a site of exceptional spiritual and historical significance. The basilica is dedicated to 22 Catholic martyrs who died in the 19th century for their faith. Every year on 3 June hundreds of thousands of pilgrims gather here. The shrine has been visited by Pope Paul VI (1969), Pope John Paul II (1993) and Pope Francis (2015), which makes it one of the most significant Catholic sites in Africa.

Useful information!

Currency

For your stay in Uganda bring US dollars (USD) in denominations of $50 or $100, from the 2017 series or newer, without inscriptions, tears or stains. Smaller notes are not accepted. It is advisable to exchange part of the dollars into Ugandan shillings.

Required documents

An international passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry into Uganda. A visa for Uganda (arranged and paid for by our company). A yellow fever vaccination certificate. European driving licenses are not valid in the country.

Although the government of Uganda has officially lifted the yellow fever immunization requirements, we at our company strongly recommend this vaccine. It is old, proven and has no side effects.

Internal transport in Uganda

How we will travel in Uganda

For travel within the country we use a comfortable safari van with air conditioning and a pop-up roof, which allows easy observation of wildlife during our stay in the national parks. Alongside it, a cargo van follows us, carrying our luggage and equipment so that we have maximum space and comfort on the road.

How should we be prepared for the tour?

Preparation for the "Uganda Safari"

No special preparation is needed, since we travel in a specialized safari van. Summer clothes, a light raincoat just in case and comfortable shoes are enough (sneakers for the treks at the waterfalls in Sipi Valley). The use of insect repellent, sunscreen and bringing a swimsuit is recommended, as there will be opportunities for swimming in pools.
